I know it’s a lot to process. Take your time.
Yes, she moved. But more on that subject later. On the 10th of January, I got a very, very pleasant surprise when I checked on my B&D Blog notifications. Why? Well, the dear blogger balletandboxing, nominated me on her blog, Discovering Ratchet, for the ‘Very Inspiring Blogger Award‘ and wrote:
An infrequent poster, but each post is beautifully crafted, dealing with being a black young woman in a predominantly white European country. She is articulate, humorous and sometimes sad.
I was also nominated for the Premio Dardos Award by another blogger here on WordPress. The Award is given in recognition of cultural, ethical, literary and personal values that are transmitted in the form of creative and original writing. Thank you so much for that, I am honored!
Needless to say that I am very grateful for the recognition, but these nominations came with great timing as well. It was the kind of encouragement that I needed and managed to put a smile on my face for the first time in weeks. I am very inspired myself, by the 850 bloggers who find my mumblings worth following, so thanks ya’ll! Anyways, one of these awards comes with some rules that I will follow, at a later time. But for now, Thank You for the nomination balletandboxing!
Now, about what I said earlier. As you may have noticed, I haven’t been very active on my blog these days (or really ever?). And for good reason. I was contemplating a career change, and with that, moving out of the country. I wanted to go some place completely different and new. Having traveled around a lot I had lots of options. At this point in my life, only one place felt right: DUBAI. I won’t bore you with my list of reasons for moving and what not, only that I am leaving the world of (private) banking behind to pursue a management career. Something completely new in a completely new environment. Exciting! Apart from ‘the big move’, I am making some other significant changes. Some will take immediate effect, and others will take a while to get used to.
So..I guess this is my way of saying ‘I have a great excuse for not posting a lot, if anything, for the next couple of months’. I will keep you updated once i’ve settled down. And I will keep reading your blog posts of course, so don’t even try taking a break on me now!
